– Pouvez-vous présenter la team en quelques mots?
T.I.P CREW est le plus ancien crew de bboy de Corée du Sud, et la team qui tente le plus de changements et qui essaie toujours de nouvelles choses. On ne se contente pas de rester dans les limites d’un crew de bboy, et en tant qu’artistes qui utlisent leurs corps, on ne fait pas distinction des genres et on fait de notre mieux pour montrer nos mouvements dans des domaines variés. Au début, j’étais seulement concentré sur le bboy-ing et la performance. Par le passé, au cours des battles, notre team a créé beaucoup de routines (mouvements effectués par 2 ou 3 membres) pour combler nos points faibles, et ça a été plutôt efficace. A ce moment-là, il n’y avait pratiquement aucune team comme ça, donc on est sorti du lot, en créant beaucoup de routines, mais dans un premier temps, les bboys sud-coréens ne l’admettaient pas. C’est parce que beaucoup d’entre eux pensaient “C’est un battle donc pourquoi ils mettent plus l’accent sur les routines?”. Mais en 2001 et 2002, la Corée du Sud, pour la première fois, participait à une compétition mondiale, et à la suite de notre victoire du prix pour le Best Show, le style de bboy-ing du monde entier a changé. Ils ont donné plus d’importance à la performance et aux routines dans les battles. Si vous regardez les performances dans les battles de compétition d’avant, les techniques qu’on voit souvent ainsi que les performances étaient le style de battle et style de performance du T.I.P CREW. Mais la plupart d’entre eux ne le savaient pas et ne nous reconnaissait pas vraiment. Mais vous pouvez le voir si vous regardez les anciennes videos du T.I.P CREW. Programmes TV, clips musicaux, films, concerts, performance projects, chorégraphies, en tant que crew de bboy sud-coréen, on essayait toujours de nouvelles choses dans un nouveau monde pour la première fois, et on a pu en arriver là parce qu’on s’est relevé après les échecs et défaites. Le changement, c’est exactement ça. On a abandonné cette idée fixe qu’un bboy ne doit faire que du bboy-ing, et avec pour concept de tout unifier sous le terme “mouvements”, notre façon de penser à changer et on a pensé “On peut être n’importe où et tout exprimer”. Grâce à ça, il n’y a pas de limites à la danse, on peut tout faire ensemble. On a gagné la liberté d’expression infinie et la pensée “On ne crée pas seul mais ensemble”. C’est exactement ça la façon de penser de T.I.P.

– Can you introduce the team in few words?
T.I.P CREW is South Korea’s oldest bboy crew and the team who seeks the most changes and always makes new tries. We don’t remain within the boundaries of a bboy crew and as artists who use their bodies, we don’t discriminate genres and are trying our best to show our moves in more various fields. At first, I focused a lot on bboy-ing only and the performance. In the past, when doing battles, our team made a lot of routines (moves we do with 2 or 3 members) to fill our weak points and it has been quite effective. At that time there were almost no teams like that so, we were unrivaled and made a lot of routines, but at first, the South Korean bboys didn’t really aknowledge it. It’s because a lot of them thought “It’s a battle so why are they emphasizing more on the routine?”. But in 2001 and 2002, South Korea was, for the first time, appearing on a worldwide competition, and as the result of us winning the prize of the best show, the bboy-ing style of the whole world changed. They gave more importance to the performance and to the routines in battles. If you look at performances in battle competitions before now, the techniques that were commonly seen and the performances were also T.I.P CREW’s battle style and performances style. But a lot of them didn’t know that and wouldn’t really aknowledge us. But you can all see it if you watch T.I.P CREW’s old videos. Just like that, we’re a team that can have self-confidence saying we had a big influence on the worldwide bboying scene, and as for me, it’s not only on the bboying scene. TV show programs, music videos, movies, concerts, performance projects, choreographies, as a south korean bboy crew, we were always trying things for the first time in a new world, and we could get here because we stood up after failures and frustrations. The change is exactely something like that. We abandonned the fixed idea that a bboy had to do only bboy and with the concept of unifying it all under the word ‘moves’, we found a change of thoughts and thought “We can be anywhere and express everything”. Beause of that, there is no boundaries to dance, we can do everything together. We earned the freedom of infinite expressions and the thought that “We’re creating not alone but together”. This is exactly T.I.P’s thought.

– 2012 touche à sa fin, donc quel(le) a été le moment(la chose) le(la) plus marquant(e) de l’année?
Cette année, plus que tout, on a préparé “B-school” pour monter sur scène et enfait, on prépare un preview de la performance. C’est le véritable objectif de T.I.P et un pas de plus vers notre rêve.

– 2012 is coming to an end so, what was the most memorable thing/moment of the year?
This year, more than anything, we prepared “B-school” to go up on stage and we’re actually making the preview of the performance. It’s T.I.P’s real goal and a step closer to our dream.

– Quel(le)s sont vos résolutions/souhaits pour 2013?
En 2013, on prévoit de mettre “B-school” dans les théâtres pour le lancement. Et beaucoup de jeunes membres sortiront de l’armée, donc vous pourrez voir le T.I.P CREW dans les théâtres. On prévoit aussi de participer aux battles de compétition avec les membres de le Nouvelle Génération.

– What are your resolutions/wishes for 2013?
In 2013, we are planning to put B-school in the theaters as an open-run. And a lot of junior members are going to be discharged from the army, so you will be able to meet T.I.P crew in the theaters. We are also planning to participates in battle competitions with the members of New Generation.

– Quelle chanson recommanderiez pour fêter le nouvel an?
Hm une chanson. Plutôt qu’une chanson, cette fois, T.I.P a prévu de danser les mêmes mouvements avec 500 danseurs coréens pour relever le défi du Guiness Record. Et on a établi un nouveau record. C’est une video vraiment cool et touchante, donc ne la ratez pas, puisqu’elle sera sur Youtube bientôt.

– What song would you recommend to party on new year’s eve?
Hm a song. Rather than a song, that time T.I.P planned to dance the same moves with 500 South Korean dancers to challenge the Guiness Record. And we set a new record. It’s a really cool and emotional video, so make sure to watch it since it’ll be uploaded on Youtube soon.

– Un dernier mot pour les français?
En réalité, afin d’améliorer T.I.P CREW en tant que crew de bboy, on se concentre sur les opportunités de performance et l’entraînement. Donc il y a beaucoup membres qui enseignent en ce moment au sein du T.I.P CREW, et on crée un histoire originale, on prévoit de faire une performance d’1h30, et enfait on prépare un preview. Vous pouvez le prendre comme une autre voie d’influencer les prochains bboys et danseurs, et comme une progression en tant que companie globale, et pas en tant que petits jeunes qui dansaient juste lorsqu’ils étaient jeunes. On se fiche d’être critiqué ou méprisé si c’est pour le bien des futures générations, les nouveaux essaies et pour le futur de la team. On est prêts et on pense toujours avant, on fait des efforts, on passe à l’action. On est un groupe qui ne peut être arrêter et toujours en mouvement. Actually, to upgrade T.I.P CREW as a bboy crew, we’re focusing on the performance opportunities and training. So there are currently a lot of teaching staff in T.I.P CREW, and we’re creating the original story, we’re planning to do a 1h30 performance and we’re actually making the performance preview. You can think of it as another path to influence the next bboys and dancers, and as an improvment as a global company and not as young kids who were just dancing when they were young.
